Jay Diedzic brings over 35 years of extensive leadership, management, and entrepreneurial experience to MobileNuclear. His career has focused on science and technology, research and development, investment, and fundraising to address global energy, water, and environmental challenges. Mr. Diedzic contributed to the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) Water-Energy-Environment Nexus by originating, developing, managing, and monetizing a diverse domestic and international project portfolio involving conventional energy, 24/7 carbon free energy, and water quality-related projects. His signature success was founding and growing a $2 billion oil and gas investment subsidiary for a Detroit-based natural gas distribution company in less than four years.
Prior to co-founding MobileNuclear Energy LLC, Mr. Diedzic was an Affiliate at the University of South Carolina supporting the DoE Savannah River Site (SRS) and the U.S. Army Futures Command (AFC) Mobile Energy and Power (MEP) initiatives. University projects included facilitating direct engagement with SRS and the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) to establish the SRS Sustainable Energy and Advanced Manufacturing (SEAM) Complex. The intent was for SEAM was to become a commercially-driven, public-private partnership to deploy advanced nuclear reactor technologies, deploy sustainable energy technologies, and deploy technologies to consume DoE’s nuclear waste stored at SRS. Although the SEAM effort advanced numerous initiatives, the project ended when DoE transitioned SRS from Environmental Management control to National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) control. AFC MEP initiatives involved developing and applying University of South Carolina technologies to reduce the military's dependency on costly and hazardous fuel and water supply lines. Activities that Mr. Diedzic supported as part of this effort included developing concepts for ultramobile very small modular reactors (VSMR).
Mr. Diedzic currently serves as Vice President and Senior Fellow with the Institute for Strategic and Innovative Technologies (ISIT). ISIT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit research institute chartered to address global challenges through advanced science and technology. Mr. Diedzic holds two patents involving electrical power transmission and a provisional patent for a mobile nuclear microreactor technology.
Mr. Diedzic holds an M.B.A. from the Ross Business School at the University of Michigan, and a B.S.E. degree in electrical engineering, also from the University of Michigan. He completed graduate coursework in nuclear physics at Wayne State University and additional energy-related coursework at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Diedzic is a registered professional engineer in the State of Michigan.
