Dr. Harry Fair is a distinguished physicist and visionary leader in the field of advanced technologies. He is the Founding President of Fair Oaks Plasma, Inc. and Oaks Plasma, LLC, and the Founding Director of the Institute for Strategic and Innovative Technologies (ISIT), a 501(c)(3) non-profit research institute chartered to address global challenges through application of advanced science and technology. He spent his early research career with the U.S. Army and later served in Senior Executive Service positions at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the Strategic Defense Initiative Organization (SDIO). Dr. Fair also founded and led the Institute for Advanced Technology (IAT) at The University of Texas at Austin, the U.S. Army's first University Affiliated Research Center (UARC). Under his leadership, IAT became the global leader in hypervelocity physics and electrodynamics research.
Over the course of an illustrious career as an accomplished laboratory director, program manager, and physicist, Dr. Fair successfully created and managed numerous complex, multi-disciplinary technical projects of national importance. These include the Joint DARPA/Army/Marine Corps Program on Armor/Anti-Armor, the National Program on Electromagnetic Propulsion, the Advanced Kinetic Energy Technology Program for the Strategic Defense Initiative, and the Army Propulsion Program. Dr. Fair's extensive experience and pioneering work continue to influence and advance the field of advanced defense technologies.
Dr. Fair holds a Ph.D. in solid-state physics and an M.S. in chemical physics from the University of Delaware, as well as a B.S. in physics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His academic contributions include positions as a visiting professor at the University of Paris, the Royal Institution of Great Britain, and The University of Texas at Austin. He has co-authored over 200 technical publications, including two books on Energetic Materials, and served as senior editor of the seventeen IEEE Proceedings of the International Symposium on Electromagnetic Launch Technology.
